AGRICULTURAL.

Summer grazing  farm raising young stock for further fattening.

 

GEOLOGICAL.

Fertile valley on the southern edge of the Burren.  Entrance to River Fergus cave system which drains much of the water from the Carron Turlough 8km away is on this farm. Views of Clifden Hill, Cratloe Hills and Mahera and Derrybrien Mountains.

 

ARCHAEOLOGY.

Large Cashel -Cahermore sits atop this hill with a commanding view of the whole Fergus Valley.  Site of the Tau Cross, a 12th Century boundary marker.  Prehistoric standing stone.

 

BOTANY.

Large variety of water loving plants grow on the stream coming from the River Fergus Cave  system.  See shoals of young trout in the River Fergus.  Many different types of Lichen growing on the rocks confirm the pure air.

 

LOCAL HISTORY.

Michael Killeen has lots of interesting local facts and folklore to tell. He has a diploma in archaeology.
